Nov 11: The Telugu Desam, which launched its GHMC poll campaign on Wednesday, is again haunted by the split in its votes due to presence the Praja Rajyam in 64 wards, and the prospect of friendly fights with the Left parties in about 30 wards.
The TD contends that it lost the May general elections as the Praja Rajyam and the Lok Satta split the anti-Congress vote. The TD president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, is cautioning party leaders to prevent a repeat of the Assembly polls.
Mr Naidu heaved a sigh of relief after the TRS decided to stay away from the GHMC polls, but the last minute decision of the PR chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, to contest polls due to pressure from the party cadre has made the TD camp apprehensive.
The TD also faces “friendly” fights with the Left parties in several divisions where the alliance partners have failed to come to an understanding. The TD has left three seats for each of the two Left parties but the CPI(M) is contesting in 345 wards and the CPI, 13.
Mr Naidu launched his party’s GHMC poll campaign with a scathing attack on the non-Left parties and said the TD would bag 100 seats and the Mayoral post.
“The TRS is a paper tiger, the Praja Rajyam joined the fray hesitantly amidst talk of merger with Congress, and the Lok Satta is helping Congress and never fought against corruption,” Mr Naidu said.
“The Congress and MIM have joined hands to defeat the development-oriented Telugu Desam. These combinations will not work,” Mr Naidu remarked.

Guys don't do the same mistake again. I do respect both Chandrababu Naidu and Jayaprakash Narayan. Be practical. Lok Satta doesn't stand a chance... they can't even reach all the people.
JP is already in the Assembly... though alone.. but didn't raise enough points to prove his point on ending corruption
And we have seen that Chandrababu Naidu has already done a good job during his time. A few of his works were really remarkable.
We should all get together and get him to power. Dont waste your votes by diving between the two good guys.
Lok Satta is at a constant distance from all these corrupt political parties. All includes Congress, TD, PR, TRS etc because all of them are basically corrupt and have a common agenda to loot public money. Only difference is they come with different names. Most of the people I met laughed on TD's allegation that LSP is supporting Congress. They expressed their dissappointment about poverty of ideas in TD saying "Doesnt Mr Naidu have better ideas?"
I agree with vinay. The TD is trying to blame loksatta and JP. They know that Lok Satta is an emerging (real) political party. They are unable to digest this fact. CBN was a visionary and good adminstrator but he is desperate to be back in power. Making promises like free televisions and offering freebies. They will drive the country nowhere but just into a big debt pile. They don't have a proper agenda, their only agenda is the blame game, votebank politics. They want to promote their kith and kin. Hope people can get rid of them by voting for Lok Satta.
"Loksatta is helping Congress"?? Although I admire Mr Naidu's administrative skills, he is resorting to baseless allegations against an honest party built from the grassroots. I guess it is politics.
I think the biggest threat to this state is from TD which can stoop to any level to win power. Vote Lok Satta.
Regarding Lok Satta, we have only seen speeches but no action yet. I would be much happier if JP plans out some action for his constituency as role model and shows these politicians what politics is.
