Hyderabad, Dec. 23: After attacking Mohan Babu’s children, the pro-Telangana activists have turned the heat on Allu Arjun, the nephew of the Praja Rajyam chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi.

Angered by Mr Chiranjeevi’s united Andhra stand, about 30 activists, reportedly belonging to the ABVP, attacked the crew of Varudu, a film in which Allu Arjun is playing the lead, at Hayatnagar near the Ramoji Film City.

The activists went to the shooting spot at Anajipur near the Indrasagar tank of Hayatnagar and “Jai Telangana” slogans. They also damaged shooting equipment.

The lead actors of the movie were, however, not present at the site during the attack. The movie is being directed by Gunasekhar.

Sources said that as the shooting was almost complete and the director had packed up for the day, the damage was limited.

“The actors had left for the day and the shooting had wrapped up just a few minutes before the activists reached the spot. They asked us to stop shooting and damaged a few equipment. No one was injured,” said the film’s manager.

The police said they have received a formal complaint from the shooting supervisor and are investigating the case.

The inspector of Hayatnagar police station, Mr Narasimha Reddy, said that since they had come to know of the attack a few minutes in advance, they were able to warn the film crew. The crew had then quickly packed up and sent the actors away.

“We called up the crew and warned them. We also sent two of our constables to the shooting spot,” said Mr Reddy.

Meanwhile, the BJP MLA, Mr Kishan Reddy, said that the ABVP had nothing to do with the attack.

Allu Arjun’s father, Mr Allu Aravind, and actor Mohan Babu condemned the attack.

It's the price they are paying for interfering in politics. Had they minded their own business they wouldn't have seen this. If they think they can fool the people they are wrong.

TRS activists are behaving like rowdies, they lost last general elections and they didn’t even dare to contest recent GHMC elections. Now they are trying to get publicity by doing all this Tamasha and this CM does not even have guts to punish persons taking law and order into their hands whether its Pro-Telangana or Anti-Telangana activists. This CM should step down immediately, dissolve assembly and recommend President’s Rule in the State.
