Hyderabad, Jan. 30: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker, Mr N. Kirankumar Reddy, on Saturday, rejected the resignations tendered by 129 MLAs on “technical grounds” terming them “not in order” as per the rules and procedures of the House.

This has brought to conclusion the resignation drama enacted by MLAs cutting across party lines following the announcement of the formation of Telangana by the Centre.

The move comes even as the Supreme Court is entertaining a public interest litigation seeking an order to the Speaker to accept the resignations pending with him.

Addressing a crowded media conference in the evening, Mr Reddy said he received resignation letters from 222 of the 294 MLAs almost a month-and-a-half ago. Of them, 92 members had withdrawn their resignation letters leaving 130 pending with him, he said.

The Speaker said that after consultations with several constitutional experts and after going through the relevant procedures, he found that 129 out of 130 resignations were not in the prescribed form envisaged by the Constitution and rules and procedure of the House.

“There is only one resignation letter which was in order,” he said. “I have decided to speak to the concerned member and take a final decision.”

Elected representatives have successfully hoodwinked the gullible people who voted them to power with their resignation drama. So long as common people don't learn, they will continue to be cheated.

My strong suggestion for students is to work hard and study as this is a precious time for students and will never come back. T-support or Samaikhya Andhra will make no difference in getting govt jobs as there will are very few govt jobs when compared to multinationals which will be achieved with talent not by agitation. I think there won't be much difference to the common man if we get separate Telangana. Only few a politicians will benefit as they won't be able to get the ministries if we have United Andhra.

Praveen.

We want telangana. I am a Telangana student, there is no balance in society i.e. all the jobs are given by government to people from Andhra, Most of the important work they are doing. Telagana is becoming poor and opportunies are less. If we get Telangana, the Andhra people will not get more opportunities.

The statement of the Speaker exposed the double standards of our politicians on their resignations. The Speaker rejected the resignations because he found them to be not in the prescribed form as envisaged by the Constitution. Was it a deliberate act on the part of politicians to submit their resignations in the form which was not in accordance with the norms of the resigantion guidelines? Or were they purely ignorant of the constitutional guidelines or were they deliberately playing with the sentiments of the people.
It was high time the people to recognise these acts of the politicians. If these politicians have the temerity to play with the sentiments of the people on a very sensible issue like separate state, what would be the condition of the people under the same set of politicians in the would be separate state. Will Kodanada Ram - convenor JAC - take the moral resposibility for the deceptive act enacted by the political constituent members of the JAC which he leads. Was he not aware of this drama? If he also feels ignorant of the constituional requirements, then he should not be calling himself an intellectual and should not be leading the so called Intellectual Forum of Telangana.
All these dasys these politicans and Kodanda Ram have beeen shouting from the roof tops that they have submitted their resigantions and were threatening the others to do the same. By doing so they were playing with the sentiments of the people. Now the speaker had exposed their deception.
On the sidelines the UPA Govt is getting ready to implict another drama in the name of the committee for road map on Telangana. These politicans would now seek refuge under it to divert the attention of the massses from their mockery of their resigantions.

It is unfortunate that we have representatives who are either unaware of the correct procedure of resigning from their elected positions or clever enough to fool the people.

At last, someone had the courage to declare and assert that resignations are not acceptable. Fresh elections cost of crores of tax payers money, apart from dislocation of normal life and loss of productive hours. The same candidates keep contesting and voters get no choice. Voters have put a lot of faith in electing a candidate and he can not let them down before fulfilling what he he has promised. It is high time that a legislation is passed to debar candidates who resign from contesting 2 more times anywhere in India.
