Hyderabad, Dec. 7: The group of ministers from Telangana has heightened the pitch of their confrontation with the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, by threatening to quit their posts in support of the ongoing agitation.
The ‘pressure group’ that includes the home minister, Ms P. Sabita Reddy, Mr K. Venkata Reddy (IT), Ms K. Sunitha Lakshmareddy (minor irrigation), Mr D. Sridhar Babu (higher education), Mrs D.K. Aruna (small industries) and Mr B. Sudarshan Reddy (medical education) has been vigorously opposing the Chief Minister’s strategy on Telangana.
On Monday, the gulf between the group and the Chief Minister widened after police caned students in Osmania University.
They rushed to the Chief Minister and lodged their protest. They wanted Mr Rosaiah to recall police from the campus and the home minister also supported the demand for the transfer of IPS official, Mr Stephen Ravindra.
Before approaching the Chief Minister, Ms Sabita is said to have expressed her intention to quit as home minister as no senior officer was heeding her words at this crucial hour.

The IT minister also expressed his readiness to resign saying there was no meaning in his clinging to the post when students of Telangana were chased and beaten up.
However, the political adviser, Dr K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, stepped in and pacified the agitated minister asking him to follow the spirit of collective responsibility of the cabinet.
He told him not to take students’ criticism of ministers to heart.
The pressure group was instrumental in the Chief Minister’s decision to recommend an amendment to the Presidential Order on free zone issue.
There were also heated discussions between ministers from other regions and the pressure group at the informal cabinet meeting held on Sunday.
Other Telangana ministers such as Mr Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Dr J. Geetha Reddy, Mr D. Nagender, Mr Mukesh Goud, Mr D. Rajanarasimha and Mr R. Venkata Reddy have sought to distance themselves from the pressure group.
These ministers had earlier turned down the proposal to go to Congress chief, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, as a delegation to persuade her to resolve the Telangana issue.

Telangana movement is a political movement, the common man on the street participating in the agitation does not have any clear idea what benefit he will get if Telangana state is formed. Public are more emotional rather than understanding the situation. Unnecessarily the innoncent students' fraternity is involved, resulting in spoiling their careers. A politician's fast unto death holds the public into ransom. All like-minded people have to sit together and formalise a scheme of projects for the development of the backward areas so that there will not be any regional disparties. State formation is not a simple decision which can be done in a day.
Present Telangana agitation is because of the Congress misrule during last 53 years. Though it took the view of every political parties, it is not stating its view. Though many people are in political field for 40 to 50 years, there is no credible leader in AP, particularly from Telangana region. As the leaders leave every decision with Sonia, who is having just 10-12 years political experience and certainly with very little knowledge about Hyderabad state, States re-organisation methodology, Fazul Ali Commission report and injustice meted to Telangana region. We cannot expect much from all these sycopants, who are worthless and spineless.
This political gimmick can only put the innocent people of Andhra Pradesh in a hazardeous situation. There is issues like unemployment price rise and education. Please concentrate on issues which benefit the people of Andhra Pradesh. That should be pride of United India.
In fact this is not a stir to uplift Telangana region by mesmirism. This is a stir to uplift the lost image of KCR, who is a politician of what type the entire state and the whole country knows. How he started talking about separare Telangana and how he behaves at different situations is known to even a small child. Because of the state's ill luck YSR died and it has become an advantage for KCR, Harish Rao and KTR. Let God bless them to live 100 years with top political power. Public somehow will have their own fate.
All these Congress leaders are now claiming participatation in this movement. What happened all these days?
The way the movement is becoming more and more violent, it gives rise to suspicion, that there are some sinister forces are at work, whose agenda is something else. Separate statehood is a matter to be decided carefully after taking political, social and economic benefits to the people, not because some leaders want to grab power. Can somebody make an analysis of economic benefits, considering the possible revenues of the area and developmental expenditure? Prima-facie, it would appear that the revenue earnings would be meagre and statehood is not sustainable without permanently depending on centre for funds.
