Hyderabad, Feb. 5: At least 11 school students have fainted in the last two days after being made to stand in the sun for hours as part of human chains organised by the Telangana JAC, drawing protests from parents who want strict action against schools for throwing young minds into a political movement.

Human chains were organised at L.B. Nagar, Moosapet, Shameerpet and Tank Bund besides other places in the city. Students from various schools were made to march and wait on the roads in the scorching sun. Some suffered sun strokes while a few of them fainted.

Parents are angry at school managements and politicians for involving their children in the movement.

“My daughter fell ill after her school forced the kids to participate in the human chain. She was marched to Moosapet crossroads and made to stand on the road for three hours. In what way are students related to the movement? The government should take action against schools,” said Ms K. Sarala, a parent.

Four students fainted at the Moosapet human chain on Friday, while seven had fainted in Shameerpet on Thursday.

Parents allege that school managements are bowing to pressure from political parties. Telangana activists, however, defended their move. “In a mass movement, a few students might suffer. We are involving students because we want to make people from all walks of life a part of the Telangana movement,” said Mr Rama Rao Gouda, a member of the OU-JAC.

Education officials too are looking the other way. “It has not come to our notice that students are being made to stand on the roads. If any parent gives a written complaint, we will take action,” said Ms Victoria Deva Kumari, district education officer, Hyderabad.

Most of these commentators are so prejudiced and blind that they fail to see similar episodes in the agitations held in Andhra. Bias and prejudice, appears to be the part and parcel of their mental makeup. But soon we will be liberated from these biased souls.

Ohhh .. carry on .. involve students ... they WILL NOT vote for you when they grow -up .. no worries .. This guy says "few students may suffer" ... INSANE .. this guy is INSANE ...

Children are innocen. Why should they be forced to participate in this political drama? Rosaiah, our so-called CM, should take some action against such schools and leaders, so that at least children are away from this torture.

Mr Rosaiah. you have been given an opportunity of a lifetime. You have the reputation of being a non-corrupt politician. God has chosen you to lead the state. What are you afraid of? Why don't you take some strong decisions and take a stand against these so-called political parties and people from your own party who have brought the state to a standstill. Why do you give the opportunity for people to make comments like "no govt. in AP. You know that you will never be elected for a CM position again. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain. Take some bold decisions and you will live in the peoples heart. You will be long remembered as the chief minister who had the guts to do it. Bring law and order to the state. Make the political parties responsible for the damages from recent strikes and bandhs pay for the damages. Arrest people who make statements to instigate hatred among society. Please bring credibility to the Govt. of AP. Make laws strict enough so that people will think twice before breaking them. Once again you have nothing to lose but to gain the respect of people.

Well said, Mahesh ! Hope CM's personal assistants are looking at articles, comments and discussing with CM. I feel the people who surround CM are not great people, and these people would like to see CM collapse from his position. Well, it is Mr. Rosaiah - who can make things happen. He needs to take Narasimha Swamy Avatharam very soon!

The heads of institutions including Victoria Deva Kumari do know that they are bowing and doing things according to political parties agenda. The parents are sending children to schools for education, not for participating in political [arties agenda. It is head of institution's responsibility that children are not sent out for political activities. If Ms. Victoria Deva Kumari is so ignorant or unaware of the activities, then she should resign from the job because of being irresponsible. She does not need a written letter when there is evidence.
