IIST to conduct separate entrance

Hyderabad, Dec. 20: Students will have to appear for a separate entrance test for admissions to Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), a deemed university established by the department of science in Thiruvananthapuram, from this year.

ISAT-2010 will be held on April 16, 2010, in 30 cities across the country.

The online-application process will begin on Monday.

Earlier, students who make it to the extended list of the IIT-JEE were considered for admissions to IIST.
The IIST offers three under-graduate programmes and four-year B.Tech courses in Avionics, Aerospace Engineering and Physical sciences. The student intake for all three streams is 156.

Candidates must apply on-line and the application form will be available from December 21, 2009 to January 31, 2010 in the IIST website www.iist.ac.in/IIST/ISAT-2010 and the alternative link www.isac.gov.in/iist/.

There will be two question papers which will be of objective type. They will comprise three separate sections on physics, chemistry and mathematics.

The syllabi will be available in ISAT-2010 webpage from 21st December.

To be eligible to appear for the test, students must have secured 70 per cent marks in MPC stream in 10+2 exams this year; for reserved quota students it is 60 per cent marks.
