Dec. 6: The Telugu Desam is caught in a piquant situation over the Telangana issue. Though the party has been maintaining that there is no change in its policy and promised to support a resolution on Telangana if it is moved in the Assembly, the TRS, BJP and the MRPS want the TD to join the agitation and extend open support for a separate state both in the Assembly and Parliament.
The TRS also wants the TD president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, to break his silence and make his stand on Telangana clear instead of conveying support through party leaders.
Mr Naidu, who forged an alliance with the TRS and formed Mahakutami along with the CPI and the CPI(M) in the 2009 elections supported the Telangana cause and failed to come to power. He took an U-turn in the just concluded Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections pitching for an integrated state, though indirectly and promising protection to people from Coastal and other non-Telangana people from TRS threats.
Interestingly, Mr Naidu while keeping mum on the issue, however, made a high pitch noise about irregularities by the Obulapuram Mining Company in Anantapur and even met leaders of various political parties in New Delhi to promoting the issue at the national level.
The TD president, however, asked his trusted leaders and politburo member, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy to spell out the TD stand on Telangana — support Telangana Bill in the Assembly.
“We are in a fix. If we extend support to Telangana cause now, the party will get the flak in coastal districts, which is a TD stronghold,” a senior TD leader said.
“Why is Mr Naidu silent on Telangana issue? He should spell out his stand. The party MLAs and MPs should come out,” demanded Mr K.T. Rama Rao, TRS MLA. Another thing that irked the TRS leaders is Mr Naidu’s failure to call on Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, at Nims. Leaders of all political parties including ministers from ruling party had called on him. However, Mr Naidu conveyed his concern through media and sent a TD delegation from Telangana. “Mr Naidu should make his stand clear on Telangana. Why he is silent on a burning issue?,” Mr Manda Krishna Madiga, president Madiga Reservation Porta Samiti said.

Awesome comments Jeremy. KCR is behind CM position and nothing else. Wheather Telangana becomes a separate state or not, KCR and other TRS leaders will continue to enjoy their usual luxurious life and the common people who was involved during the separation process will suffer. Many people got hurt and killed. If you look at the mess going on all these days many common people fighting died but none of the political TRS leadears and big people died. They are all safe at their homes. Potti Sree Ramulu, the true fighter died for AP formation and now KCR wants mess up everything. After all this mess there will not be change in common man life.
It's really a paining aspect in life to see the split of the state. KCR is looking out for a CM's chair amd on the other hand Telangana people are unable to grasp it or understand it. There's no point splitting the state. It's just a political drama. This revolution took so many lives, took away so much of assets, took so many peoples emotions, took so much that i can't describe in words. I seriously miss YSR n his leadership. As long as YSR was alive, no one even dared to think of a separate Telangana and no one dared to talk about it. Now that he is no more, this mess has started. I really honour and appreciate YSR's ruling. Now even Chandrababu Naidu is playing politics. I wish Jagan could have been the CM so that this would have never happened.

If there is one lesson we could learn from the British, it is united we stand, divided we fall. We will not gain anything by dividing Andhra Pradesh into two. It will break the state into more pieces. The reason these leaders are going for a separate state is to ensure their political power and to grab more money. I am sure a normal AP person is against the division. It is just the politicians.
Can't imagine a separate state. Half the MLAs are from Telengana. Why aren't they striving for progress which they can easily demand? I dont know if separation helps. I can see the dangerous side of it but nothing good. All three new states have turned out to be Naxal states which is another concern.
I will move out another state if Mr.Naidu becomes CM again.
