Hyderabad
Nov. 19: The Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, will inaugurate Aurobindo Pharma’s formulation unit in the controversial Polepalli Special Economic Zone near Jadcherla on Friday in a bid to checkmate the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who has been clamouring about injustice to the region.

The SEZ, which is the first green industrial park in the state, allows only non-polluting units. Aurobindo’s project outlay is Rs 157.63 crore. A unit of another major pharma company, Hetro Drugs, is also nearing completion. Sources close to the Chief Minister said he decided to inaugurate the first unit to showcase the development projects undertaken up by the Congress government in Mahbubnagar district.

Despite the trouble associated with Polepalli SEZ, the Chief Minister decided to visit the area in the context of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao planning a fast unto death claiming that only a separate Telangana can provide development to the region. Aurobindo Pharma, which took 75 acres in the SEZ, will use the facility to create formulations for pharma giant Pfizer.

Mr David Simmons, president of established products business units of Pfizer, will also be present on the occasion. This is the first manufacturing facility of Pfizer in the country. The AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation promoted the green industrial park in 950 acres, of which 250 acres is allotted for formulation units.
