Hyderabad, Nov. 28: Civic authorities have been ignoring the problems being faced by people in the Greater Hyderabad for over a month now, thanks to the GHMC elections.
For instance, the water board has not attended to a number of complaints from residents in areas like LB Nagar, Uppal, Kukatpally and Gachibowli on issues like water leakage, irregular water supply, excessive billing, etc.
“I have been receiving irregular bills for the last two months. I registered complaints with the water board several times,” said Mr Prakash Reddy, a resident of Kukatpally. “I visited the water board office so many times but the polls were keeping these officials so busy that no one was available to listen to my problem,” Mr Reddy said.
Even the Prajavaani programme, organised by the water board every Monday, is full of such complaints from residents of these areas.
These complaints also have not been attended to, moan residents.
However, an official of the water board claims all such complaints are solved by the department and Prajavaani is a useful medium for people to voice their grievances.
Now, with the completion of GHMC elections, people are hopeful that the newly-elected corporators would address their day-to-day civic issues.
