Hyderabad, Dec. 15: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids on the residence and office premises of two top engineers with the state government and unearthed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
In the first instance, the ACB raided the house and office premises of Ankam Rajulu, deputy engineer-in- chief, R&B, here and unearthed assets worth Rs 3 crore.
The seized property included a house at Hanamakonda, Warangal, three flats — one each at Kalyannagar, Khairatabad and Yellareddiguda in the city — three open plots at Balapur, Miyapur and Kukatpally here and 20 acres of agricultural land at Station Ghanpur in Warangal.
The searches also yielded assets that included two cars, a scooter, LIC policies and financial documents all worth about Rs 15 lakh, two kilogrammes of gold, three kilogrammes of silver and other household articles. The ACB officials were gathering details of bank lockers and accounts.
In the second instance, the ACB raided the residence of Bheemanathini Satyanarayana, 57, superintending engineer, I & CAD, SRSP, Hanamakonda, Warangal, and unearthed assets worth about Rs 1 crore. The market value of the assets is estimated to be much higher.
The assets included a three-storeyed building and three open plots in Karimnagar. In the city, Satyanarayana owned a flat at Sitaphalmandi, three open plots at Peddamberpet, a plot at Shamirpet and two plots at Nizampet. Further, four flats in the name of the officer are under construction at Nizampet here.
The searches also yielded 50 tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs 7.50 lakh, 2.25 kilogrammes of silver articles worth Rs 60,000, Rs 77,000 in cash, bank balance of Rs 1.40 lakh, insurance policies worth Rs 9.48 lakh, investments in chit funds to the tune of Rs 2.59 lakh, fixed deposits and shares worth Rs 2.5 lakh, a car, a bike and a scooter all worth Rs 11 lakh.
Both the officials were arrested.
