Hyderabad, Nov. 17: The Karimnagar police filed a petition in a Delhi court seeking the custody of Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy in a case of criminal conspiracy.
The chief metropolitan magistrate, Ms Kaveri Baweja, sought a report from the superintendent of the Tihar Jail, where Ghandy is lodged, on the application moved by the Karimnagar police. The court will take it up for hearing on Wednesday.
Ghandy is also an accused in a conspiracy case in Visakhapatnam relating to an encounter with police at Gunurkayi village of GK Veedhi mandal in 2008. He was arrested on September 20.
“There are two criminal conspiracy cases against him,” said an intelligence officer. “In the Visakhapatnam case he was part of conspiracy to eliminate the Greyhounds and state police involved in combing operation.”
