Priyanka steps in to help Rahul; holds strategy meet with senior party leaders

New Delhi: In a surprise move that set off rumour mills, Priyanka Vadra on Tuesday attended a key poll strategy meeting at the residence of her brother and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
The meeting was attended by senior leaders that included Ahmed Patel and Janardhan Dwivedi.
Party sources, however, were quick to clear the air that Priyanka will not contest the coming general election but is keen to protect the Congress bastion of Rai Bareli and Amethi.
Both these places saw many Assembly segments voting in favour of the Samaj wadi Party in the last elections.
A new dimension has been added with Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Viswas declaring that he will contest against Rahul Gandhi in Amethi. Reports have also indicated that the AAP has started making serious inroads in UP with many signing up to become members.
