Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has held Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi "responsible" for Monday's mayhem in the Maharashtra assembly and said his party men would have made a "tandoori" or roast of somebody like Azmi for having hurt Marathi pride.

Hyderabad: Stunned by England's "immature" decision to pull out of the World Badminton Championship due to perceived security threat, top Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal said it would not take any sheen out of the elite event.

"It's an immature decision but I don't think it makes much of a difference to the tournament because there are no English top players in the singles event," Saina said.

4 killed in Pak suicide attack

At least four people were killed and a dozen injured on Sunday when a suicide bomber riding on a bicycle hit a police van in Quetta, capital of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province.

Five injured policemen were in critical condition, Xinhua reported.

Volcano erupts in Iceland

Authorities evacuated hundreds of people after a volcano erupted beside a glacier in southern Iceland, Iceland's civil protection agency said on Sunday.

The eruption occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday (1930 EDT) beside the Eyjafjallajokull glacier, the fifth largest in Iceland. No damage or injuries were immediately reported.

UN chief crosses into Gaza

UN chief Ban Ki-moon crossed into the Gaza Strip on Sunday for an hours-long visit as part of a regional tour aimed at reviving the Middle East peace process, an AFP reporter said.

Ban crossed through Erez crossing that links Israel and the Palestinian enclave. He was met by a small group of people waving Palestinian flags.

Nepal peace broker Koirala dies

Kathmandu, March 20: Girija Prasad Koirala, the former Nepalese prime minister who brokered the peace deal that ended a bloody 10-year civil war, died on Saturday aged 85, the state television reported.

Koirala, who had been suffering from respiratory disease for many years, died at his daughter's home in Kathmandu, Nepal Television reported.
