Upen’s waiting for a hit film

Upen Patel came into the industry with a lot of promise but he seemed to have disappeared from the Bollywood radar. The model-turned-actor only re-surfaced sometime ago when news broke out that Ranbir Kapoor had prevented the producers of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani from using Upen in any of the promotions. The actor only makes a small appearance in the film. So where was he really? Upen says that he was away learning the “craft of acting” and will now be back with a bang.

The actor had earlier signed on 17 films when he made his debut in Abbas Mustan’s China Town. “Things did not work out the way I wanted. I was fresh out of being a model and did not know much about acting. I went to the Lee Strasburg acting school and did a course for nine months. Later I trained at the London School of Drama for three months. I have learnt a lot in the last few months and I have definitely grown as an actor now,” he reveals.

“I have four films to my credit so far and I think they weren’t so so bad but then I decided to learn more about acting. Like Al Pacino said: ‘The only thing between an actor and success is that one movie that you choose.’ So here I am, back and waiting for that one movie,” he says.
