A debut at 32!

Pallavi Subhash, popular on TV for her Hindi serials and commercials, is all set for her Tollywood debut opposite Sumanth.

Pallavi Subhash is excited about her Tollywood debut film, Naruda Donoruda, opposite Sumanth, which is a remake of Vicky Donor.

“I have watched the Hindi film a number of times and I like the way Yami Gautam carried her role in the original,” says 32-year-old Pallavi.

When Pallavi was offered the role, she immediately agreed. “It’s not a regular film. I always wanted to try something new, so when I got this opportunity, I readily accepted it,” she adds.

This movie could be counted as actor Sumanth’s comeback film. Commenting on the same, Pallavi says, “Every actor has their ups and down. I, too, face it when I don’t have work. Sumanth is one of the senior actors and is very supportive and also helps me with the language,” she says adding, “I would love to work with him again.”

This is not Pallavi’s first South film as she has already worked in Kannada and Tamil films.

“Those movies never released as they ran into financial problems,” she says.

The Tamil film, which Pallavi was supposed to do, was with Gautam Vasudev Menon. “I shot for a few days and it was a magical experience. We could not complete it because of date problems, and my dream of working with Gautam remains incomplete,” she says.

Pallavi Subhash is a Maharashrian and has started her career with theatre.

“I went to watch a theatre play with my brother. While watching the play, someone came up to me and said that the director wanted to see me. The girl who was supposed to do the role hadn’t turned up, so they were looking for someone to fill in the shoes. I was studying at that time and I told them that I wasn’t interested. But my brother asked me to go for it. That’s how my journey with acting began,” she says.

After theatre, due to financial problems at home, Pallavi had to work. “I decided to help my family and so I started working in Marathi films. Thankfully, the industry was quick to accept me,” she says.

Pallavi is also into modelling and has acted in commercials and TV serials, including Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat and Mahabharat.

“It’s a big challenge because of the language. I always try to do different roles, be it playing a mother to King Ashoka or wife of Lord Krishna,” says Pallavi.

The actress hasn’t signed any other Telugu project as she is looking forward to the release of her debut movie. “I would like to do more Telugu films as people here are very supportive,” she says.

Add to that the fact that she loves Hyderabadi biryani and South Indian breakfast.
