Varun Tej is slowly but surely becoming hot property in the US. The actor’s latest release Tholi Prema has joined the million-dollar club in the US within two weeks of the release. The romantic entertainer has registered a whopping $650K in its opening weekend and added another $350k in 12 days. Directed by debutant Venky Atluri, Tholi Prema is produced by B.V.S.N. Prasad.
Interestingly, Varun’s earlier film Fidaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, was also rated as one of the biggest grossers ($2 million) in Telugu cinema in the US.
“What worked in favour of the film big time is the freshness in the screenplay and the lead pair’s characterisation. Also, the romantic episodes and on-screen chemistry between Varun and Raashi Khanna is amazing,” says the film’s director Venky, adding, “The film proves that love is a universal theme and if the concept is handled in a unique way, the film can still be successful at the box office.”
