The young Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan is in Hyderabad for the shooting of his first Telugu film Mahanati. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is based on the life story of the legendary actress Savitri. While Dulquer is playing Gemini Ganeshan’s role, Keerthy Suresh is playing the title role of Savitri.
“The shooting is going on at a village near Gandipet on the outskirts of the city, where they are canning important scenes between Dulquer and Keerthy,” says a source. In real life, Savitri fell in love with Gemini Ganesan in the initial stages of her career and later married him.
“Both Savitri and Gemini Ganesan first acted in a Tamil film in 1953 and now the director is shooting some of the scenes related to that film and how they fell in love during the shoot,” informs a source from the unit. The shooting will continue for a few more days. Vijay Devarakonda and Samantha are the other lead pair.
