Fifty acres land to film institute

The government allocates land to Telugu film industry.

The Telangana State government is planning to allocate 50 acres of land for a film institute towards Shamshabad and Adibatla. The government is also inviting big players like Yash Chopra, B R Chopra, Suresh Babu, Nagarjuna and other top film personalities to develop film studios nearby, says a source.

“Recently we met the Cinematography Minister Srinivas Yadav and he disclosed the government’s plans for the development of the film industry here,” says Ram Mohan Rao, president of Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce (TSFCC).

Earlier known as the Hyderabad State Film Chamber of Commerce, the TSFCC completed 75 years on Friday and a big cultural event is being planned to mark the occasion. “We are meeting government officials to chalk out the celebration plans,” says Rao, adding “We are the only one in Telangana recognized by the State and Central governments.”

He says that the TSFCC has given a memorandum to the Cabinet Sub-Committee that was formed some time back to look into the issues of the Telugu Film Industry.

When asked about Film Awards, he says that they are expecting an announcement from the government before the upcoming festival season. According to a source, the Cabinet Sub-Committee has already submitted the proposal for the Film Awards and it’s now up to the government to act on it.
