Copyright case against Dil Raju

The case revolves around the script of the 2011 film Mr Perfect that was financed by him.

In relation to the 2011 film Mr Perfect bankrolled by Dil Raju, a complaint was lodged against the producer on Saturday at the Madhapur police station in Hyderabad. A novelist, Shyamala Rani, has accused the producer of basing the script of the film on her novel Na Manasu Korindi Ninne.

A source in the know says, “The complaint has been lodged on the name of Dil Raju aka Venkataramana Reddy under sections 120A, 415, 420 of the Copyright Act 63 under the IPC. Even director Dasaradh has has been named in the case.”

Shyamala has alleged that the central theme in the film along with a few sequences have been taken from her novel. Madhapur DCP Viswa Prasad has said that the police will look into the issue by comparing the novel and movie before coming to a conclusion.

Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, representatives of Dil Raju claimed that they haven’t received a notification about the same and that they would react only after receiving it.

Also, a question is being raised as to why the complainant is reacting nearly six years after the film’s release. The story of Mr Perfect was provided by Bobby aka K.S. Ravindra who is presently a director and is awaiting the release of Jr NTR-starrer Jai Lava Kusa.
