Nayanthara’s upcoming film Connect has been in the news for its plot and cast. Director Ashwin Saravanan says the film is about how a family is stuck in different parts of the country during the lockdown, and unable to meet each other.
“During this time, the daughter at home starts exhibiting symptoms of being possessed. The mother is unable to find help because of the lockdown. Finally, a priest in Mumbai suggests performing an exorcism on a zoom call. The story is about whether the mother was able to save the child,” says the director.
Anupam Kher played the role of an exorcist. “Since it is a very powerful role, we wanted someone who has a charm and is convincing,” says the director, adding that working with Anupam was very special. The 90-minute film doesn’t have an interval and watching it non-stop will give the audience a new kind of high, he says.
