Chiranjeevi starrer Sye Raa is in the news again. Although Surender Reddy is the director, there are reports that Chiranjeevi has roped in director Gunasekhar to supervise the project. Based on the life of freedom fighter Narasimha Reddy, Chiru’s son Ram Charan is producing the project.
Over the last few days, rumours have been flying thick and fast about Gunasekhar taking over the project. However, a source close to the director refutes all rumours. “Gunasekhar is occupied with the pre-production work of his mythological film Hiranyakasipa and doesn’t have time to think about any other film. Also, no one from Chiranjeevi’s side has contacted Gunasekhar for any help,” says the source.
Meanwhile, there are reports of differences between Chiranjeevi and director Surender Reddy. “Yes, there are a few differences, but it’s more a healthy discussion about the work. It takes three hours to get Chiranjeevi’s make-up done and given his age, the director doesn’t want to stress him out. So, he advised the actor to use a body double for some scenes, which Chiranjeevi didn’t agree to. He used a body double only for the action scenes,” says a source from the unit, revealing that Chiranjeevi argued that the body double won’t get his body language and style right, so he can’t be used for regular scenes. The second schedule of the film will start from February 20 onwards in Kerala.
