Dreams do come true

Rashi Singh's gamble pays off

After playing a meaty role in the Aadi Saikumar-starrer Sashi, Rashi Singh has bagged three happening films, including a home production by Prabhas.

The actress will be seen in Santosh Shoban’s film Prem Kumar, and in another film by UV Creations opposite Naveen Chandra, apart from starring in Sairam Shankar’s film Resound.

Prem Kumar is a comic caper and I play an independent girl. It’s a modern character,” she says, adding that she plays a mature woman in Naveen Chandra’s murder mystery. “Sairam Shankar’s film is a comic thriller, so the three films belong to different genres, and it’s very heartening to have such great opportunities at a very early stage,” she says.

Rashi, who was an air hostess, reveals that she always wanted to be an actress. She quit her lucrative previous profession and relocated to Hyderabad to pursue her dreams in 2019. “Many friends and well-wishers warned me back then that I was taking a gamble. But I was missing job satisfaction,” she reveals, adding that she’s glad that her gamble is paying off. Rashi says the best part of being an actress is that the satisfaction she now enjoys.

“This was what I was dreaming of, and many don’t get the chance to do what they aspire to. It’s gratifying to achieve something I’ve wanted since childhood,” she says. Rashi shares that her mother too had wanted to become an actress in her teens but gave up her dreams. “She’s now fulfilling her dreams through me,” Rashi smiles, adding that she is glad that Tollywood accepted her.

Even while she was working as an air hostess, Rashi was getting offers for ad commercials. In fact, she bagged her first commercial when she was merely 14.

“Later I started modelling too and was part of a few commercials before quitting my job,” says Rashi who was born and raised in Bhilai (Chhattisgarh).

Rashi has never undergone any formal acting course. She says she learned most things on the sets. “Since I have done modelling, I was never camera shy,” she says.
