Dasari criticises choice of Padma awardees

The government isn't giving the Padma awards to the right people, awards have become very cheap, says Dasari Narayana Rao.

Veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao is once again doing what he does best these days – criticise. This time he targeted the government over the Padma awards.

Recently, the Movie Artists’ Association (MAA) felicitated veteran actors Jamuna and Kaikala Satyanarayana, and Dasari was the chief guest at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, he criticised the government for not giving awards to the right talent. “In Tollywood there are many talented artists like Jamuna and Satyanarayana. The government isn’t giving the Padma awards to the right people; they are being given to unworthy people, who have not done much for the film industry. Awards have become very cheap these days,” he said.

“Many senior artists like Jamuna, Satyanarayana, S.V. Ranga Rao, Savitri, Anjali Devi and others haven’t got any awards from the government. Awards are now given to people who are not even famous,” added Dasari.
