Sankranti is for all: Sharwanand

Sharwanand's latest film Shatamanam Bhavati will compete with biggies at the box office this Sankranti.

Last Sankranti, Sharwanand’s Express Raja had managed to stand strong amidst tough competition with three major releases –— Nannaku Prematho, Dictator and Soggade Chinni Nayana. This time again, the actor seems quite confident as his film Shatamanam Bhavati hits the screens along with Khaidi No. 150 and Gautamiputra Satakarni which are already running and are doing very well for themselves.

“This had happened last year too, however, my film worked despite all the competition. I think the festive season is very accommodating and three-four films can have a good run at the box-office without eating into each other’s space. It’s a long holiday and there shouldn’t be any problem. As for our film, it’s got the festive mood in it. You know how a festival is? Relatives and friend come home and it’s such a celebratory fervour around. Our film is like that too. In fact, we even celebrated Sankranti in the movie,” he says.

Interestingly, as much as he seems confident about the film now, before signing it, he had his own apprehensions. “Sai Dharam Tej heard the script earlier and he suggested that I do it. And that’s when I heard the complete script and decided to go ahead with it,” he reveals adding, “The film is a pakka entertainer and deals extensively with relationships, families and emotions. It’s very relatable. Everyone will connect with the moments in the film.”

In the film he will be seen portraying the role of a village lad and has teamed up with actress Anupama Parameswaran. “In between all the emotions, there’s a fun love story between the bava and maradalu. I play the role of a guy who respects elders and values their word. I think this film will take me closer to the family audiences,” he says.

Directed by Satish Vegesna, the film stars senior actors like Jayasudha and Prakash Raj. Sharing how it was working with them, he says, “After working with everyone for so long we became one big family! Also, director Satish’s clarity helped all of us. I am happy with what he has done.”
