Acting is harder than playing, says Prachi Tehlan

Former Indian netball and basketball player Prachi Tehlan talks about her stint as an actress and her Telugu debut.

For someone who represented India at Netball and Basketball, and worked in corporate sector, getting into films seemed to be an instant decision. And actress Prachi Tehlan is certainly enjoying this stint. “Since I have already acquired fame and money in sports, the best part of acting is that it constantly gives me the opportunity to be someone else, and that’s what keeps me going,” reveals Prachi, adding, “I am still trying to mend my ways to be an actress because whatever I have learnt in cinema was in front of camera.”

The actress further adds, “What sports taught me is to be confident wherever I am, and I was just the same in front of the camera. I wasn’t nervous. However, I am not missing out on sports and constantly working towards promoting Netball and Basketball.”

The actress states that she has realised entertainment is the most difficult industry to work as compared to playing. “I am slowly growing as an actor, though, I am still taking baby steps, I can understand how demanding and challenging the job of an actor is. But it still drives me like,” reveals Prachi.

The Diya Aur Baati Hum actress will be making her debut as the lead actress in an untitled film directed by Srikrishna Gorle. She is paired opposite Amanpreet (Rakul Preet Singh’s brother) in the sci-fi thriller. Talking about her role, she shares, “I play a Ph.D student in the film and there’s a lot more to my role that what meets the eye. Amanpreet is a cool guy and shooting for the Telugu film has been a great experience.”

Apparently, Prachi has been to Hyderabad during the school time for playing a Basketball match. “Also, I have learnt that Rakul and I studied from the same college in Delhi,” shares Prachi, who is also making her debut in a Malayalam film industry, opposite Mammootty.
