Pooja Jhaveri is a known face in Telugu and Tamil. But the actress will now be making a debut in Gujarati films. As it is her mother tongue, she can’t be more excited about it. “I have been very keen to do a Gujarati film and my family has been asking me when I’d do one so they can finally understand my lines. I’m glad things have materialised (laughs). Moreover, since Gujarati is a promising industry, I thought it would be the right time to be a part of it,” she says.
The film, directed by Feroz Irani (Arun Irani’s brother), has elements of drama, comedy and love. Unlike traditional Gujarati films, this movie is an urban-based one. “Actually, this script was a written for a Hindi film, but they are making it in Gujarati. So the costumes are very trendy and have a Bollywood appeal; the entire crew is from Mumbai. The music is composed by Nadeem Shravan.”
Talking about the role, she shares, “I play a TV reporter and it is a very strong role. She’s someone with attitude. She’s also tomboyish and independent. And speaking Gujarati came to me naturally.”
