K T Rama Rao's advice on GST bill

K.T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, is the most sought-after name in the Telugu film industry. The politician has become a regular at film events. On Tuesday, too, he attended the audio function of Kaadhali, produced and directed by his childhood friend Pattabhi. “This film is his dream. If politicians attend a film event, it may not attract the audience, so we requested Charan!” quipped KTR, talking at the do.

“I hope Kaadhali is also a success like many of the recent refreshing small films like Pelli Choopulu,” said the IT Minister, who recalled that his friend had wanted to join the film industry 25 years ago. “He left the IT industry when it was booming, to join the film industry. He is a big fan of Venkatesh,” said KTR. He also thanked Suresh Babu for helping him release the film.

At the event, producer Suresh Babu requested KTR to help with the GST bill that proposes a 28 per cent tax on movies. Responding on the same, he said, “While it is good to set up a common tax bracket throughout the country, we have to save our culture too. I know many have spoken up against the tax in recent times. I suggest the South Indian film industry should meet Arun Jaitely to talk about this move,” said KTR. Actor Ram Charan thanked KTR for his response and advice on the burning issue of the GST bill.
