The hero is remade!

Remakes are a part of cinema and some of them have gone on to garner great acclaim.

The Kannada film industry has always voiced strong objections to dubbing — the main reason is that the industry already faces huge competition with other language films releasing in the state in high numbers.

However, the remake culture has always existed, and is as old as the history of cinema itself. It is an essential commercial part of the industry, and any sensible remake of a good movie has always won hearts, and some have even created box office records. Bengaluru Chronicle reports on the recent remakes that have been successful.

Kiccha Sudeep, who shot to fame with Huccha, a remake directed by Om Prakash Rao, was a remake of Tamil film Sethu directed by Bala and starring Vikram. He most recently gave two back-to-back hits — one directed by him — Maanikya, and another starring him under the direction of Nanda Kishore in Ranna. Kiccha has been one of the most prominent actors in recent times who does not shy away from remaking a good film. His earlier directorial My Autograph and Shanti Nivasa were also remakes as were Veera Madakari.
