Kiccha as commando with social cause

Sandalwood star Sudeep will be donning his first ever military avatar in Hebbuli.

Ever since Hebbuli (meaning strong and ferocious Tiger) started roaring with Abhinaya Chakravarthy Kiccha Sudeep donning his first ever military avatar as a Para military Commando, his style has been the craze among his fans.

But, what is so far not known about it, is that the change is for a social cause. One of the most talented cinematographers, S Krishna, who made his debut as a director with Gajakesari, and now spearheading Hebbuli, reveals that Kiccha’s commando avatar is not just all about war but the real action is aimed at social concern.

“The major part of the movie takes place in Bengaluru and only 20 per cent of it is about the military avatar. However, it deals with how soldiers are sensitive and how they connect with their family. I want the audience to feel it when they watch the film. It deals with an important social message wrapped up in a detailed commercial version,” says Krishna.

However, in order to realise such a demanding project with challenges, producers Raghunath, Umapathy and SRV production supported me a lot including Kiccha Sudeep with whom I had worked in the past as cinematographer for his films, he says.

“When I approached Kiccha Sudeep sir, he accepted it immediately without even hearing the narration of the story. Such was his confidence and I had to be at my best to create a good story with a social cause, which also looks visually great on the screen.”

What makes it more interesting, as the director further points out, is that he has meticulously worked on every detail how our Indian soldiers operate. “I always wondered why most of the time our films fail to show Indian soldiers as effectively as Hollywood. In fact, our soldiers are as good as anyone other army men in the world. That is why I took two years to work on the screenplay and later worked on every detail by watching documentaries on Indian soldiers. I did not want to make it look artificial, so a lot of effort has gone into its making,” says the director.

Krishna, has worked as the cinematographer creating the amazing visuals for all time commercial hit film Mungaru Male apart from dozens of other films. With Hebbuli already roaring to the maximum, fans are in for another real treat.
