Anita Bhat is serious about cinema

Actress Anita Bhat is back to the silver screen after taking a breather.

This bold and beautiful actress Anita Bhat is back on the circuit. The actress who was last seen in Dodmane Huduga has several Kannada films lined up for release this season, including a special avatar in Tagaru starring Century Star Shivarajkumar and Dhananjay which is being directed by Suri. While she plays a negative role in Tagaru, she has DNA, Prabhutva, Days of Borapura, and her latest signing Vaishakini, a horror film which runs between modern and ancient times on agenda. Anita talks about her films, and more.

“Apart from Kannada films, I have so far acted in a couple of Tulu movies including the remake of Kannada film Idolle Ramayana. I essayed the role of Priyamani for Idolle Ramayana. Being in films was not what I had chosen as a career, as I was into academics. I studied Fabrication Technology at MS Ramaiah. Later, films became a matter of survival. Though I had the opportunity to take up anchoring and other TV jobs, I always felt that it was not my cup of tea. I can act in front of the camera, and pose for hours on end, but when it comes to anchoring and TV assignments, I felt uncomfortable,” says Anita Bhat.

Recently, the actress was in the news for an alleged affair with a married man from the industry. She, however chose to clarify this, saying it was a special relationship, and even admitted to having a live-in-relationship with the person for over three years. As the past is behind her now, she is glad at the direction her career has taken since. “In Tagaru, I play the love interest of Dhananjay, with a completely different negative shade. In Vaishakini, a horror thriller, I will be seen in one of the hottest avatars of my career so far. DNA has a twisted role, and Days of Borapura sees me in a major role. Shooting for Prabhutva will start after November 20,” shares Anita.

After passing through a difficult phase, both professionally and personally, she says her latest work has given her credibility as an artiste. The actress who made her debut in Pyscho says, “I am fully involved in front of the camera. I cannot live without it now. It requires immense patience to sustain oneself in the industry. I was never into fitness but these days I am doing yoga, though diet and beautifying are far from my list. I am a vegetarian, and maintaining a healthy routine does the trick for me. I never visit parlours and I feel gifted and thankful.” She signs off saying that she even started learning swimming to get rid of her water phobia.
