Karnataka Film Awards: Double delight for Sanchari Vijay

Vijay of Nanu Avanalla Avalu fame bags Karnataka Film Awards.

Bengaluru: Sanchari Vijay, who won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his brilliant performance in Nanu Avanalla Avalu, is second time lucky as he was adjudged the Best Actor in the state film award for 2014 for his performance in the same film.

Vijay told Deccan Chronicle, “I am doubly elated with the state award. When I won the National Award, many said that I could get the state award too. I am immensely happy that I got award. I dedicate it to the Siachen martyrs and farmers. I come from a village and I understand the plight of farmers. I take this opportunity to dedicate the award to our heroes.”

He said, “If director B.S. Lingadevaru had not developed such an amazing character, all these would not have been a reality for me. I thank him and the producer for making the film.”

The actor, who is being flooded with offers after his national award, said that he is balancing his theatre and art and commercial movies.

Actress and classical danseuse Lakshmi Gopalaswamy bagged the Best Actress Award. Tulu feature film Brahmasri Narayana Guruswamy was selected for the special award for film on social issues.

The popular film award went to Gajakesari, a Yash-starrer that was directed by ‘Krishna’. The best debut award for direction went to Rakshit Shetty for Ulidavaru Kandante, and Best Karnataka Regional Film Award went to Vishada Male.
