Sundar Raj files cheating case against HDFC ex-staffer

Mr Sundar Raj invested in different schemes, including insurance, and deposited Rs 43 lakh into Bhat's bank account.

BENGALURU: M.K. Sundar Raj, a well-known Kannada cine actor, on Monday filed a cheating complaint with the JP Nagar police against Vishalakshi Bhat, a former manager of HDFC Life Insurance, her sister Anupama Bhat and husband Srikanth Bhat, accusing them of duping him of Rs 43 lakh on the pretext of investment. Sundar Raj said that Bhat approached him through a common friend with attractive insurance packages and different investments schemes in October 2015. Mr Sundar Raj invested in different schemes, including insurance, and deposited Rs 43 lakh into Bhat’s bank account. But his money was not invested anywhere, the police said.

“I met Bhat at a famous actor’s house and she convinced me saying that there were different schemes where I can safely deposit. Seeing relatives and family members of big actors themselves investing with her, I too agreed,” he said.
Sundar Raj said that Vishalakshi’s husband Srikanth Bhat and elder sister Anupama Bhat too convinced him to invest in the schemes.

The Central Crime Branch police are investigating the case following over 25 complaints registered against Vishalakshi Bhat in different police stations across the state. Since the CCB is investigating all the cases pertaining to Vishalakshmi, Mr Sundar Raj case would also be transferred to the CCB, a senior police officer said.
