“We don’t want to talk about what is going wrong in the world. We want to talk about what is most beautiful about the world. We want to give people what will change the lives of people for better and we want to give it back as songs,” says Band Ayan.
Three years ago, members of Ayan belonged to different bands, different backgrounds and ethnicity. Now they are all together for the love for music and to give more positivity to the world. Ashish Borde plays bass guitar, Vinod T. Vijay the drums, Prajwal Pai does the vocals, John Joel and Suddhanshu Nayak strum the guitars.
“We did not restrict ourselves to a particular language, so we decided to give a multi-language approach to band. We write songs based on our journey,” says Prajwal.
Their first song, released on Youtube Guhar, which is about liberation, got more than 15,000 likes in one week, and impeccably the band only had put up their official page just two days before the release.
“Our first song actually is Kwaahis, which means a wish, which meant our desire to come together and another one is Jeloon, which is about living in the moment. We grew up listening to many bands and it had changed our lives. We all felt the responsibility to give what we learned even as we come from different influences in music," says Vinod.
Most of the lyrics are penned by the members themselves. It is impressively noticeable, the band as a whole puts the kind of effort and thought process in each of their songs.
Interestingly, Njan Aaravaam , is the Malyalam song they are producing now. Yen ullil aanandhadheyude, sangeedhaalapeneyay, Ee ulagam endedhallo has been penned by none other than acclaimed poet Kavalam Narayana Panicker. "We drove all the way down to Trivandrum just to do the lyrics. Initially the poet was reluctant, as he was not sure of our approach. We convinced him about the purpose of our band and he helped us by giving us our most beautiful song of all.
The song questions the purpose of our lives, in a positive way,” says Vinod. Watch out for the release during Onam.
