Madurai Adheenam features in Islamic music video

The album, depicting the life history of Mohammed Prophet (PBUH), was released on the holy occasion of Ramzan.

In a fine expression of religious amity, the Madurai Adheenam, the Guru Maha Sannidhanam or pontiff of the Saivite Mutt, has rendered an Islamic song besides appearing on screen for a video album.

The album, depicting the life history of Mohammed Prophet (PBUH), was released on the holy occasion of Ramzan. The album is titled Karpanayil Ninaithaaleand the person behind the idea is none other than Isshrathquadhre, singer-musician and younger sister of Oscar winner AR Rahman. The single has gone viral on social media platforms.

Isshrathquadhre speaks to DC in an exclusive on the idea of bringing Hindu pontiff Madurai Adheenam on board for an Islamic song, “I have watched the Adheenam talking about Holy Quran and praising its verses on television channels many times. He even sings Nagoor Hanifa’s Islamic songs. When I decided to make a music video on the life history of Mohammed the Prophet (PBUH), for Ramzan, I thought why not we use his voice. When I approached him, he was very happy to be a part of it. He asked me to send the lyrics penned by popular poet Kaayal Ilavarasu first. Later, he had come all the way to Chennai to record the song at our AM Studio. In fact, he came at his own expense and refused to take any remuneration for his rendition.”

Besides producing the music video, Isshrathquadhre has also sung alongside the Adheenam. “I am glad that Karpanayil….has been widely appreciated and has gone viral on online platforms. I express my sincere gratitude to Madurai Adheenam avargal for making it a big success,” the singer states.

Yet another video album Iraivan Thandha Iniya Varam, praising the almighty, produced, composed and rendered by Isshrathquadhre has been well received. “I am planning to produce more such albums and give chances to young talents,” says Isshrathquadhre as she signs off!
