Nela Ticket movie review: One more dud for Ravi Teja!

Nela Ticket has a a lot of unnecessary scenes which can be removed; sometimes they test the patience.

Cast: Ravi Teja, Malvika Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, Sampath, Posani, Ali, Subba Raju, Praveen
Director: Kalyan Krishna Kurasala

After Soggade Chinni Nayana and Rarandoi Veduka Choodam, director Kalyan Krishna takes the commercial route with Ravi Teja but Nela Ticket but clearly falls short. There is no particular name for the protagonist, who is called Nela Ticket (Ravi Teja) because his childhood is spent on a cinema theatre floor. He is raised by Anand Bhupathi (Sarath Babu), who runs an orphanage in Vizag. Nela Ticket wants to be friends with everyone and help people. Anand Bhupathi’s son Aditya (Jagapathi Babu) is sworn in home minister. Minutes afterwards, Anand is killed in a car bomb blast. TV news reporter Kaumidi finds some video footage that shows Aditya as being behind the blast. Before she reports it, she is attacked by Aditya’s goons and slips into a coma. Nela Ticket comes to Hyderabad and is involved in a fight with the goons and comes to know that they are the home minister's men. The rest of the story establishes the links.

Director Kalyan Krishna has made a name for himself for strongly showcasing emotional drama with his first two films but chooses an outdated story to make a typical commercial film. At a time young directors are coming up with good subjects and exciting films, it is surprising to see Kalyan Krishna pick an old-style commercial formula that has nothing to speak of. Even the comedy is dated. Though there are many characters in the film, the director hasn’t got an intense performance from any of them. So much so, one doubts whether Kalyan Krishna really helmed the film. Nela Ticket is more of the same for Ravi Teja. It is clear from his body language that he did this film rather mechanically, and didn’t put in much effort. May be he hasn’t learnt from the mistakes he made with Touch Chesi Choodu, also a dud.

Jagapathi Babu has a routine character as the villain, and perhaps it is time he stops doing such roles. Newcomer Malvika Sharma is bubbly, but she looks very young next to Ravi Teja. She appears only in the songs and a couple of scenes. Sampath and Subba Raju are adequate in their supporting roles. Brahmaji appears in many scenes but has only a couple of dialogues. Kaumudi as journalist is okay and Sarath Babu appears in a cameo after a long time. Praveen and Ali as Ravi Teja’s friends appear throughout the film. There are many supporting actors, but no one stands out. Nela Ticket has a a lot of unnecessary scenes which can be removed; sometimes they test the patience. The music is below average. A few dialogues catch the attention.
