Krishna Tulasi movie review: A BLINDer unfolds

The visual focus in the case of Krishna Tulasi is actually about two blind people, who fall in love in cinematic fashion.

Cast: Sanchari Vijay, Meghashree, Kuri Pratap, Ramesh Bhat, Suchendra Prasad, Padmaja Rao
Director: Sukesh Nayak

After the past week’s silent experience that failed to make the right noise, Sandalwood witnesses a ‘visually-challenged’ saga. One might believe that love is blind, but the visual focus in the case of Krishna Tulasi is actually about two blind people, who fall in love in cinematic fashion.

Sukesh Nayak, who makes his debut as a director, has certainly done a decent job, effectively making a romantic drama with a handful of characters. However, the negative picturing of the visually-challenged characters does not go down easy. They are shown in a typical and cliched portrayal, especially with respect to their physical mannerisms.

In reality, a visually-impaired person does not have the characteristics that are usually, and with full ‘drama’ portrayed in many feature films. Such acts always give an impression that the characters are mentally disturbed, instead of visually impaired. Apart from this blind spot, the film runs smoothly with an intelligent character who is also blind — Krishna. A mama’s boy, he lands in Mysuru from his hometown Madikeri to pursue his passion as a guide in the public department.

Soon, Krishna meets someone who shares a similar passion, and the friendship blossoms (daily) as they are co-passengers on a city bus. The first half is about sweet talk, anecdotes, and the exchange of gifts. For those who love Mysuru city, this film will bring a big smile on one’s face. It even has a lovely song about Mysuru.

As the drama unfolds, there is a blind twist just before the interval. Thereafter, everything revolves around the predictable love affair, until the climax.
A simple plot, and neat performances make it a good watch. Though not a masterpiece, the audience will definitely not curse the makers or complain about wasting their time.

Insofar as performances are concerned, Sanchari Vijay lives up to his usual expectation, but it is Meghashree who makes a mark with this one. Have some free time at hand? Then Krishna Tulasi can make you blindly fall in love.
