Even as the Puneeth Rajkumar starrer Raajakumara is running in theatres, the legendary actor late Dr Rajkumar makes another special appearance in this new release as the golden man. This time, son Shivanna plays son to the golden man in reel life. If not for the late Dr Rajkumar’s presence onscreen, his stature and universal appeal (while showcasing a farmer’s issue), this film too falls flat in an attempt to shine brightly.

It does look obvious that the old film and video clips of Dr Rajkumar used here simply evoke the legendary actor in real life, but the director narrates a different story to suit the tale! Looks like more such tales might be spun in the coming days based on the popular characters played by the legendary actor. In Raajakumara, it was Kasturi Nivasa, a classic story about human values, sacrifice and so on. Here, it’s another classic film Bangarada Manushya which has become the driving force based on a farmer’s issue that is the focal point.

This one too kicks off in a foreign location, Italy, where the protagonist, a wealthy businessman lives. He is shown making wild bets and indulging in his favourite game, the races, on his iPad in the office! A practical man who doesn’t believe in tomorrow, and lives for the moment is the basic structure of his character. His sidekick is the comedian Chikkanna. With a foreign location such as Italy, a couple of songs shot in the posh streets of Italy are necessary to introduce the heroine, Vidya Pradeep.

With nothing spectacular apart from touring Italy in the first half, the second half starts to make ‘some’ sense after the protagonist decides to follow the footsteps of his father to help the poor and needy. He soon realises the problems of farmers, and sets on to resolve them permanently. It soon takes the shape of a movement. There is a twist in the ‘end’ too!

Watch it for these reasons only —the farmers, the late legendary actor and Shivanna. Expect more such special appearances of the late Annavaru, Dr Rajkumar in the days to come.
