Satya Harishchandra movie review: Truly, a reel' test to one's patience

Satya Harishchandra is whacky ride filled with lots of potholes which never lets one rest in peace even for a moment.

Director: Dayal Padmanabhan
Cast: Sharan, Sanchitha Padukone, Bhavana Rao, Chikkanna, Sadhu Kokila

Warning: Are you allergic to something which comes in excess and runs for a longer time, leaving you mad? Then, this latest ‘Satya Harishchandra’, is similar to the before said allergy. The pain of watching this remake tale is worse than getting one’s tooth removed without sedatives, for almost three hours! The director has crossed the limits till Punjab, to remake this almost never ending, so called comedy saga which eventually leaves one (does not apply to those who have strong liking for these kind of films) frustrated for having dared to watch it in first place.

With Sharan in the lead, it starts typically with a village background who usually comes with sidekick character, and the rest is a pack of a senseless tale even for a comedy film. While it is still a billion dollar question on what inspired to remake a Punjabi film of this kind, the two plus hours of agony starts rolling with the pranks of Satya, a habitual liar. While he crosses all limits Satya is warned for the last time, as one more complaint against him, he and his mother would be banished from the village forever. So, what follows is Satya’s master plan to outsmart the village chiefs. This is just the beginning fellows.

The whacky ride is filled with lots of potholes which never lets one rest in peace even for a moment. From running a cyber cafe in village, to instantly falling in with a girl living in Munich after seeing her photograph from her facebook account, to flying to Germany in search of her, is too much to digest. In addition to it, there is another girl, who is already there in Germany, looking for her online-love. Moving forward, there are number of twists and turns which comes at a rapid pace, which has the potential to make one faint.

As usual Sadhu Kokila, who makes rare appearances is almost all movies, keeps coming coming back with his routine mannerisms, Sharan, too has started sounding the same. This one certainly qualifies to be used as one of ‘torture’ methods to spill the beans!

Sanchitha Padukone, is mostly seen either cat-walking as a rich girl in foreign locations or running away from villains, as Satya keeps coming back every time to save her. If anyone is looking out for means to kill time, then this is it.
