‘Vijetha’ marks the foray of one more Chiranjeevi family member into films, this time it is his son-in-law Kalyan Dhev. The film is helmed by Rakesh Sashi and produced by Sai Korrapati of Eega fame.

Srinivasa Rao (Murali Sharma) is a middle class factory employee. He dotes on his son Ram (Kalyan Dhev) and provides him whatever he wants. Ram just clears his graduation and finds it difficult to get a job and is not serious about his career either. Srinivasa Rao can’t bring himself to say anything, but feels bad. One incident makes Ram to think about his future and the family.

All eyes are on Kalyan Dhev as he is Chiranjeevi’s son-in-law. Director Rakesh Sashi comes up with an outdated storyline that is shorn of novelty there are plenty of films in Telugu featuring a good father and a careless son. The narration also holds nothing new. The climax is the only highlight.

The director focuses more on Kalyan Dhev then the rest of the cast. The romantic thread between Kalyan Dhev and Malavika Nair does not jell well. Kalyan Dhev looks good but has to put in a lot of work, especially in the emotions department.

The film belongs to character artiste Murali Sharma, and Vijetha is one of his best. He is the only saving grace. Malavika Nair as the female lead does not click. Thani-kella Bharani’s experience shows, Kalyani Natarajan and Pragathi put in decent performances. Satyam Rajesh evokes a few laughs.

Senthil Kumar of Baahubali fame is the cinematographer and it tells on the visuals. A couple of Harshavardhan’s songs are catchy.
