Movie Review 'Speedunnodu': Fast film with speed breakers

Speedunnodu is not a typical Bheemaneni Srinivasa Rao remake.

Cast: Bellamkonda Srinivas, Sonarika, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Srinivas Reddy and Madhunandan
Director: Bheemaneni Srinivasa Rao

Director Bheem-aneni Srinivasa Rao, who is an expert in remaking films, has come out with Speedunnodu after delivering the hit film Sudigadu. Speedunnodu is a remake of the Tamil hit film Sundarapandian. The lead pair are Bellamkonda Srinivas and Sonarika.

The story unfolds in Kurnool district where Sobhan (Bellamkonda Srinivas), a rich man, is always ready to do anything for friendship. One of his friends, Giri alias Rubber (Madhunandan), takes Sobhan’s help to propose to Vasanthi (Sonarika). Sobhan does so on behalf of his friend, but she rejects the proposal and tells him that she is actually in love with him.

Meanwhile, Sonarika’s parents have fixed her marriage with Jagan (Kabir), who is a childhood friend of Sobhan, while one Chitti (Satya) is also trying to woo Vasanthi. This leads to a rift between the childhood friends and one needs to watch the film to find out how it turns out.

Except for a few, all of director Bheemaneni Srinivasa Rao’s films are remakes. In this film, while the main plot has been taken from Sundarapandian, he has made a lot of changes.

Usually he ensures that the emotions and intensity of the original film aren’t missing, but here he has concentrated more on the comedy and romantic tracks, which is unlike him.

The first half of the film is only entertainment and the actual story begins in the second half. Moreover, the narration is slow and most of the scenes are predictable. While the film revolves around friendship, the director has completely failed to show the emotional bond between the friends.

When it comes to the performances, Srinivas showcases his talent, especially in the dance and action scenes. He, however, has to work on his expressions and emotions. This is only his second film and he will definitely get better.
Sonarika is glamorous and does her part well while Tamannah sizzles in her item song.

Prakash Raj and Rao Ramesh are proven actors and lend gravity to the film, but their roles are limited. Jhansi has a meaty role. In other characters, Srinivas Reddy brings out a few laughs along with Posani and Prudhvi. Kabir and Madhunandan are just okay.

DJ Vasanth has provided some foot-tapping songs and also the background score while there are a few punchy dialogues by Bheemaneni and Praveen Varma. Speedunnodu is not a typical Bheemaneni Srinivasa Rao remake, but one can watch it to kill time as there are plenty of commercial ingredients like songs, action and comedy.
