IDI director files complaint against live streaming of movie via Facebook page

The page called 'Kasaragotte Chekkan' was removed immediately after director Sajid Yahiya registered the case

ALAPPUZHA: The director of the newly-released Jayasurya starrer Idi has registered a complaint with Cyber Cell against a Facebook page for donning a live streaming of his movie on Thursday night. The leak occurred a day after the movie was released in Gulf countries. Mr Sajid Yahiya, the director, said that the movie had been downloaded by at least 2,000 netizens in span of few hours.

The page called ‘Kasaragotte Chekkan’ was removed immediately after he registered a case with Anti-piracy Cell and Cyber Cell. He also added that a notice was published on the page prior to the streaming and it had claimed that police can nothing about it. According to the director, the movie was captured with a mobile phone having facility of HD camera.

The streaming started at 1 am. Within couple of hours, it spread to thick and fast. “We had traced it only on Friday morning”, said Mr Sajid . He said the epicenter of incident is meant to be in Dubai. The Cyber wing has begun investigation into the matter, but nobody was arrested yet in connection with the incident.
