Pulsar Suni claims assault by cops; to be shifted to Viyyur jail

Kochi: Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the actor abduction and sexual assault case, told a local court on Thursday that he was being assaulted in the jail. Following this, the court directed the police to shift him to Viyyur prison, Thrissur, from the Kakkanad district jail. He made the charges when he was produced before the Angamaly Judicial Magistrate in the morning. Suni alleged that he was assaulted by police and a few prisoners in the last few days when he threatened to reveal the name of the ‘Madam.’ The situation is such that he could not even complain about this to the jail superintendent.

The court then ordered his shifting on safety grounds and posted the hearing of his bail petition to August 21. The court had on Wednesday extended his remand period till August 30. Suni refused to reveal anything about the ‘Madam’ to the waiting media personnel on the court premises. He had told reporters on Wednesday that he would reveal the same on being produced in the Angamaly court.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team took statements from actor Remya Nambeeshan, a close friend of the victim in the case. The attack on February 17 last happened when the victim was on her way to Remya’s house here. According to sources, the cops mainly asked her about the “enmity” between the victim and actor Dileep and the reasons for the same. Later, Remya said she passed on every detail she knew to the probe team.
