Trisha to make her Malayalam debut opposite Nivin Pauly

She will make her Malayalam debut with Syamaprasad's film Hey Jude.

It has been around 13 years since Trisha Krishan, who has roots in Kerala, started off as a heroine in Tamil films. Since then, there have been rumours that she would come to M’town. She even acted as a Malayali in Goutham Menon’s romantic flick Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya. Now, the buzz is that the actress is gearing up to come down to Kerala to appear in a Malayalam film. It will be through award-winning film maker Shyamaprasad’s film Hey Jude that the Kollywood actress is debuting in Malayalam. The director confirms that Trisha has agreed to act in the film. “It will be a musical-romantic film with Nivin Pauly and Trisha in the lead. This film is completely set against the backdrop of Kochi and Mangalore,” says the director.

Quizzed about Trisha’s role, he says, “As of now, I cannot divulge more. All I can is that she acts as a Malayali. The film will start rolling from March.” The director, who is noted for adapting published stories and plays into movies, says that Hey Jude will be filmed based on his original screenplay. It is for the third time that Nivin teams up with the Ore Kadal director. His latest releases Ivide and English had Nivin in the lead role. Shyamaprasad continues, “We are currently working on finalising the cast and crew for the film. Hey Jude will be produced by Ambalakkara Global Films.” The VTV star on several earlier occasions turned down M’town offers and is presently busy with several films in her kitty. So, what made her tick now?

“The year has been good and I am happy that people are coming to me with scripts written for me. Though I was getting offers from Malayalam earlier and some of them also good, I could not accommodate dates when approached. This time also when this project came up, I was bit hesitant as my dates are blocked for another six months. At the same time, I was keen to hear the script since it is from a noted filmmaker. It was a mind-blowing script and rarely a heroine comes across such meaty roles. There’s a lot of scope for performance. The entire team was appealing and I gave my nod and signed on the dotted line”, Trisha tells DC. She adds that having waited so long, this would be her right project for her debut in Malayalam.” Hey Jude has an ensemble cast of Mukesh, Urvashi, Pratap Pothen among others. Trisha is wrapping up her present film Mohini, a horror flick where she plays chef and a ghost in a dual role.
