An acting apprentice

Shaheen Siddique, son of actor Shaheen Siddique talks about his experience in acting in Kasaba and a second time with Mammootty.

As a star kid, Shaheen Siddique doesn’t like to go the easy way. He understands he can often get the candy first, but the upcoming actor takes the business seriously. After finishing his Bachelors in Visual communication from London, Shaheen is making his progress into the world of movie step by step.

Son of actor Siddhique, Shaheen made his debut with the movie Pathemaari alongside Mammotty, and now his second one with the super star has released. Shaheen is acting as Siddique’s son in the movie.

“In Kasaba I play the role of my father’s son named Arjun. It was very exciting to act with my father and Mammooty, whom I call ‘Moothapa’ as he is like an elder brother to my father. In Pathemari, I didn’t have any combination scene with ‘Moothapa’. In fact, my first scene in Kasaba is going to invite Mammootty for my engagement,” says Shaheen.

Thrilled about the release, Shaheen says he has high hopes about the movie. “First of all the movie has an amazing cast. All credit goes to first-time director Nithin Renji Panicker, who has a very promising future. He knows how to get the right emotions from an actor and I really call that skill.” Not so new to the world of movies, Shaheen says he didn’t feel uncomfortable to act with the biggies.

“Probably because, I know most of the actors from childhood. Even ‘Moothapa’ was very supportive of my performance, so I was feeling inspired to give my best.” Being the actor’s son, Shaheen says his father would only give him the basic guidelines.

“He tells me acting is something that cannot be taught and as a matter of fact he tells me it is important to behave well in the sets. That way, he doesn’t interfere much in my acting attempts. That said, I like to create my own identity as an actor and not wish to be known as Siddique’s son,” signs off Shaheen.
