CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan backs Mohanlal

No need to seek explanation from Innocent, Mukesh and Ganesh: CPM.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Saturday said there was no need to seek explanation from the Left-supported MP and two MLAs who are also office-bearers of Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) in connection with the controversy related to reinstatement of actor Dileep. The CPM state secretary came out in support of actor Mohanlal saying the latter was being targeted unnecessarily.

He said the question of seeking explanation from Innocent , Mukesh and Ganesh Kumar did not arise as they were not members of the CPM. AMMA is an independent organisation and the office-bearers function within its framework. Therefore there is no need for seeking explanation from anyone. Kodiyeri said the CPM had made its position clear on the issue of taking Dileep back in AMMA. There is no need to twist the facts to portray the party in a bad light. The CPM has given out a very clear message that the decision to take Dileep back in the organisation was totally wrong. It is also a message to all those who were present when the decision was taken in AMMA, indirectly hinting that the CPM decision apply to the MP and MLAs.

However, he didn't approve of the protests being organised against elected representatives of the LDF. He said the protests against Mohanlal were not acceptable. It is a grave mistake to attack him in connection with the issue. The CPM state secretariat on Friday had pointed out that the decision of AMMA to reinstate Dileep who is an accused in a criminal case, was wrong and expected that the cine artistes association would make the required amends. The party secretary hoped that AMMA office-bearers would take note of the severe criticism from various sections of society, and take an appropriate decision at the right time.
