During the 1990s, Priyadarshan’s films were noted for, along with offbeat themes, casting brilliant actors even in for small roles. Jagathy Sreekumar, Sankaradi, Bobby Kottarakara, Kuthiravattam Pappu, M G Soman and Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair were some of the eminent actors who teamed up with Kilukkam director for his major hits.
Priyadarshan says that he was very comfortable with those actors and could easily find the roles for them in his films. According to the director, his upcoming film, Oppam gives him the opportunity to team up with some brilliant actors from the new generation.
“For Oppam, I could colloborate with actors like Aju Varghese, Hareesh Kanaran and Chemban Vinod Jose for the first time. From now I can decide which roles are apt for them during the scripting itself, as I did in the initial days,” says the director. Oppam is scheduled to release during Onam.
