Innovative song in Bogan

Imman uses punch lines of popular actors for a track in Bogan.

Music composer Imman, director Lakshman, and young sensation Anirudh, have incorporated the punch lines of popular heroes like MGR, Sivaji, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith, Vijay, Suriya, Dhanush and even villains including Nambiar and Veerappa for a song! Titled Damaalu Dumeelu, Imman has scored this peppy number for the Jayam Ravi-Arvind Swami starrer Bogan. When the trio joined hands for Romeo Juliet, they brought out a hit song Dandanakka.

“For Bogan, we wanted something fresh and something that could reach the masses. The film revolves around the basic concept of a hero and a baddie played by Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swami respectively. So, we brainstormed and came up with idea of featuring memorable punch lines of popular heroes and villains with their cut-outs popping up alongside Ravi. This peppy number is choreographed by Raju Sundaram Master,” Imman tells DC.

He adds, “We were particular that we pick up only those lines which were still fresh in the minds of audiences.” So, isn’t it a big formality in terms of copyright using these dialogues? — “It is true! We can’t take these lines just like that and add in our song. We followed the proper procedure and obtained permission from the respective audio companies to use them,” Imman explains.

Incidentally, Nambiar speaks the famous dialogue from Aayiratthil Oruvan — Madham Konda Yaanai Enna Seyyum Theriyuma, for which, pat comes the reply from MGR — Sinam Konda Singathidum Thorthu Odum!
It is a known fact that Rajini and punch dialogues are inseparable. Sivajiyum

Naanthan MGRum Naanthan from his film Sivaji, as well as Suriya’s Ongi Adhicha Onrai Ton Theriyuma have been put to use in the song. Punch dialogues from Kamal’s Vishwaroopam — I am a hero and a villain, Ajith’s Therikka Vidalama from Vedalam, Vijay’s Pokkiri dialogue — Naan Oru Thadava Mudivu Pannita En Pecha Naane Ketka Maaten, and Dhanush’s Maari line — Senjiruven, among others also find a place in the catchy number. “The song along with the lyric video is a tribute to all the heroes and villains of Tamil cinema,” explains Imman.
