Ineya replaces Varalaxmi

There has been a change in cast for Appa's Malayalam remake directed by Samuthirakani.

Actress Ineya, last seen in Shaji Kailas’s Vaigai Express, is now awaiting the release of a couple of films in Tamil and Malayalam. In addition to the films, she has now been signed on to play the lead role in Akasha Mittayi, the Malayalam remake of Tamil film Appa.

Earlier, we had reported that Varalaxmi was roped in to play the female lead in the movie, directed by Samuthirakani. But due to a tussle with the producer, she had backed out of the project. She called the producers ‘male chauvinists and egoistic’. The team has now replaced Varu with actress Ineya. She will be joining the team of Akasha Mittayi from April 1 in Kochi.

Speaking to DC, Ineya says, “I play Jayaram sir’s wife in the movie and it is a perfect family entertainer. Since Samuthirakani sir has made a few changes in the story, my character will be pivotal in driving the story forward. I have scope for performance towards the climax portions. I have met Jayaram sir on several occasions, but this is the first time I will be sharing screen space with him.”

The Karai Oram actress also adds that she has signed a big project in Tamil, for which she will start shooting in May. “I cannot disclose details about the film right now, but I am eagerly waiting for it. I have Puthan Panam with Mammootty, and Pottu with Bharath, ready for release in the coming months,” she concludes.
