Anyone who wants to work for people can come to politics: Vijay Sethupathi

The film directed by Paneerselvam has Tanya (as Sethupathi's wife), Bobby Simha and Pasupathi in pivotal roles.

A film will run only if the content is good and I strongly believe that no movie will run for its lead hero. May be the actor’s fans might enjoy the first day’s first show or the first 10 minutes, beyond that it all depends how the subject is narrated in a convincing manner,” remarked Vijay Sethupathi while interacting with media at the press meet of Karuppan.

Sethupathi further said, “The film has a nativity subject and I don’t fear as to how people would accept me in this, as they accepted Vikram Vedha. I love my mother tongue Tamil and its culture, and we should strive to be pro-active about promoting it.”

Reacting to a query on what would be his reaction if he got a national award for Karuppan — he replied, “I would shun away from the award and look into people’s problems.” (smiles)

When asked why he always chooses realistic scripts, Sethupathi replied, “I also want to act in masala films and I feel it is tougher than realistic movies. All said and done, any movie, which is successful, is a commercial venture. For me, a story has to be narrated in an interesting manner.”

Speaking about politics he says, “If you ask whether actors can enter politics, my answer is why not? Not only Rajini or Kamal, anyone who wants to work for the welfare of the people can come to politics.”

The actor also confirmed that he is on board Mani Ratnam’s film and is making his debut in Telugu with Sye Narasimha Reddy.

Sethupathi added that he did not want to spoil the suspense on whether he plays a transgender person or a woman in Thiyagarajan Kumararaja’s next.
