Kamal Haasan has a reason for not accepting 2.O

Kamal Haasan recently admitted that he was offered the negative role in the Shankar-directed Rajinikanth starrer 2.O.

Reportedly, Kamal Haasan recently admitted that he was offered the negative role in the Shankar-directed Rajinikanth starrer 2.O, a sequel to Enthiran, but he turned it down outright! It has got nothing to do with the role being a villainous one. “I have done roles with grey shades in many of my movies,” he says. The reason was that though he and Rajini have shared the screen in many movies, they decided long ago that whenever they do films together, it would be produced by either one of them to ensure that their fans are not annoyed. We all know that Bollywood biggie Akshay Kumar is essaying the villainous character in the sci-fi thriller 2.o.

Meanwhile, Kamal states that with the visa issue, all decks have been cleared and they have reached LA for the Sabaash Naidu shoot. The actor and his unit faced visa issues a few days back for his trilingual film (titled Sabaash Naidu in Tamil and Telugu) when they were set to leave for the US shoot. Things seemed to have been sorted out, and the Utthama Villain star is pleased about it.

Kamal goes on, “I am happy to say that the members of my unit and I have arrived in Los Angeles for shooting our new film, Sabaash Naidu. This is a project that we are all enthused about, and we have hit the ground running. As with the production of almost every film in our industry, we are dealing with the inevitable hiccups, especially with a project of this scale and complexity — but it is my good fortune to be working with an extremely talented and supportive cast and crew.”

He further thanks the US consulate for their support, “I am especially appreciative of the continued support lent by the US Consulate in Chennai, who have always been very understanding and helpful in enabling us to have smooth passage to USA for the many shoots that my production house has undertaken there. I speak for my industry when I say that they have always been very supportive of any credible and genuine effort to make a south Indian film in the USA.”
